traditional: 山 This is a Pictographic Character, the original meaning of it referred to "plateau” or high level topography. This picture shows three to four peaks mountain; in the Oracle bone script (jia gu wen), the peaks level are shown closely. And the Bronze engraving script (jin wen), the middle peak is stretched high. Now this word means “mountain” or “hill”. |
